Whitchurch is a winner in the annual Revive & Thrive Conference
From the 29th – 30th September, Acting Town Clerk Zoë Dean and Community Enablement Officer attended the Revive & Thrive annual conference which took place this year in Colchester, Essex. Whitchurch, Shropshire had been selected as one of only thirteen finalists in the Blachere Illumination UK’s Christmas Lights Competition. The main prize up for grabs was £10,000 worth of Christmas Lights for the winning town.
The Whitchurch officers entered fully into the spirit of the competition by making their presentation on town of Whitchurch and how the lights could be used, in full Christmas fancy dress. The judges had asked for passion for your place which was certainly in abundance. Unfortunately Whitchurch didn’t win but we were awarded £1,000 worth of lights from Blachere Illumination UK for the town.
Acting Town Clerk Zoe Dean said: “Thanks to the presentations and workshops at the event we now have lots of ideas for Whitchurch and it was a great networking opportunity. We handed out Whitchurch event postcards and really put Whitchurch, Shropshire’s name out there! It was an honour to attend the event and represent our lovely market town of Whitchurch. The competition provided us with a fantastic platform to showcase what our town has to offer and how hard we are all working to make it a visitor destination of choice, as well as a thriving place to live and work.”
